OUR STORY
Prior to co-founding Orion in 2022, Scott and Matt worked together closely for six years at Boston Scientific.
After two decades investing in and analyzing medical device companies at several funds and investment banks, Scott joined Boston Scientific where he led both the Venture Capital and Global Strategy teams. His dual roles enabled him to lead the identification and exploration of new opportunities for growth and then execute on them through new VC investments. Scott also served as a member of the Corporate Portfolio Committee – a small group of senior leaders charged with making key M&A and divestiture decisions.
Over his nearly 20-year career at Boston Scientific Matt held numerous leadership roles within two separate divisions. Since 2010, Matt served as a member of the Leadership Team in the company’s Neuromodulation division where his responsibilities included management of business development, venture capital investments and divisional strategy as well as senior leadership over numerous commercial supporting functions.
Together, Scott and Matt developed and refined best practices on the execution and management of venture capital investing. Their complementary career journeys led them to create Orion Strategic Ventures to bring this methodology to more leading MedTech companies.
